"It’s nice to sing “Fly Me to the  Moon,” but if you want to go to the moon, you have to call NASA and have a plan. "
Consulting
As a music business consultant, Ann has worked with people and companies to find their path in the music industry. (See client list.) She assesses where they are and gives them a detailed, practical plan for achieving their objectives.

Ann has consulted with record labels to show them how to make money in the new music business environment.

She has also helped companies solve complex casting issues for entertainment productions like movies, plays, and TV shows. Her uncanny ability to figure out which artists can work well with one another allows her to put together huge ensembles that function smoothly as a group, saving a lot of money, time, and frustration for everyone involved.

She has also met with individual artists to improve their skills, network in the right places, and clearly define their goals. In her life coaching sessions, she covers everything from proper table manners to getting more gigs.

Lessons

Ann Ruckert offers private lessons to select students. After evaluating a student, she will do one of three things. First, she may see that the student does not have the determination and drive to make it as a true professional in the recording industry. In that case, she will discontinue the lessons, to prevent the student from losing more money on an unproductive endeavor. In some cases, she may feel like another teacher may be more suitable for a student. After all, Ann has a very strong personality, and she may be overwhelming to some students. In that case, she will recommend one of her many talented colleagues for the job. If, and only if, Ann knows that she can truly help a student to achieve success as an accomplished musician or songwriter does she continue taking money from a student.

Ann gives a variety of lessons to her students, which are highly personalized according to what the individual student needs. Lessons can include special exercises to expand the lungs, practicing scales, writing music, improving song lyrics, working on table manners, improving business skills, or learning more about artists' rights.

Classes
Ann's Saturday class is a great way to improve your skills while networking with some of the best singers and songwriters in New York City today. Work on improving your technical knowledge of music while also learning about the music business.

For the most advanced practitioners, Ann also offers a Tuesday workshop for songwriters. During this time, participants work on improving their songs. Because this class is so cohesive, in order to join, you must be approved by the existing members.

Lectures

Ann has given lectures around the country on all sorts of music-related topics. She has gone on a five-city tour for the Learning Annex, and has spoken at seventeen different SUNY campuses, Harvard, NYU, and Yale School of Music.

Seminars
Ann Ruckert has years of experience in the music business, and shares her knowledge in her informative seminars. See the music marketing section for more information.

Mentoring

Ann adores young people, and loves seeing people in their prime. She has mentored dozens of students over her lifetime, and many of them have gone on to very successful and happy careers in the music business. However, Ann is quite selective about who she chooses to mentor, since she puts so much time and effort into the relationship. She generally chooses students who show promise in both attitude and talent. Most of them come from her Saturday class.
